This section contains images taken at the Tour de France that was won by Bradley Wiggins. I have been long interested in the aesthetics of the sport but wanted to get away from the cycling to focus on the individuals as athletes performing at the edge of their capabilities. So  - most of the images were taken on a downhill stretch of the Pyrenees where there were no cheering crowds and where the riders were focussed entirely on not crashing.‚ÄčI set up a 'focus box' - a short stretch of road where the riders would come into focus but where the background would be blurred - and hid with camera and long lens as the peloton passed through this photographic space. As you will see, the intent was portraiture, not sports photography.
